Kev Dand: No problem! Well, I’ve always been hands-on. I started out in high-level access work, working on some of the most well-known buildings in the UK, including St Paul’s Cathedral. Over the years, I picked up a range of skills—roofing, building maintenance, contract cleaning, property refurbishments, and more. Eventually, I decided I wanted to build something of my own, where I could do things the right way and create a company based on trust, reliability, and quality work. That’s how KLD Property Services came to life.

James Carter: That’s an impressive journey! How would you describe KLD’s approach to business?

Kev Dand: We take a collaborative approach—that’s really important to me. People don’t work for KLD, they work with KLD. The same goes for our clients—we don’t just do a job and walk away, we work with them to find the best solutions. This attitude creates strong relationships with both employees and clients, which is why most of our staff have been with us for years. It’s not just a workplace, it’s a team, and that makes a difference in the quality of work we provide.

James Carter: What services does KLD Property Services specialize in?

Kev Dand: We offer a full range of property maintenance services, including:

• Lock changes and security upgrades
• Building maintenance and refurbishments
• High-level access work – we have IPAF-licensed staff for working at height
• Commercial and contract cleaning
• Plumbing and heating services
• Waste clearance and deep cleaning

James Carter: Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Kev Dand: I’m a family man first and foremost. Spending time with my partner, Clair, and our six kids is important to me—time is valuable, and work can get in the way, so I try to make the most of family time when I can. I also love tinkering with cars and vans, keeping the company fleet running smoothly. And I have a bit of a thing for nice watches.

Oh, and I need more date nights with Clair—she reminds me of that regularly! (laughs)
